Evaluation of Transient Equipment Stresses

In order to achieve a high availability of equipment in electrical power applications, detailed knowledge of the expected electrical stresses is required during the planning stage. The analysis of electromagnetic transient (EMT) phenomena represents an established method for both AC-based transmission grids and DC-based interconnections or DC-grids. Such studies are required to evaluate the expected voltage and current stresses of new assets and to make reliable design decisions based on the obtained results.
