Dr.-Ing. Daniel Barth

Daniel Barth is an electrical and information technology engineer with more than 6 years of professional experience. He has extensive knowledge in the field of electrical power engineering and power electronics. His work focuses on the design and loss calculation of converters and inductive components, as well as the simulation of electromagnetic fields.

  • 2022- today:
  • Power System Consultant at Mosaic Grid Solutions GmbH
  • 2016 - 2022:
  • Research associate at the Institute for Electrical Energy Systems and High Voltage Technology (IEH) of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)
  • Research focus: Electric vehicle inductive charging, soft-switching of full-bridge converters, eddy current effects, finite element simulation
  • 2010 - 2015:
  • Consecutive Bachelor-Master Program Electrical and Information Engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)
  • Focus: High-voltage technology, power electronic direct current interruption

Project Experience

At Mosaic Grid Solutions GmbH:

  • Grid integration of electrolysis plants in the medium and high voltage grid


At KIT IEH:

  • Research cooperation in the field of automotive industry on "Inductive charging of battery electric vehicles" with the main focus on:
  • Design and cost optimization of transmission coils
  • Soft-switching of full bridge converters
  • Research cooperation in the field of charging infrastructure on "Dynamic wireless power transfer".
  • IILSE project (funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection) with the following topics:
  • Interoperability of wireless power transfer systems
  • Harmonization of DC fast charging standards
  • Supervision of electromagnetic finite element analysis studies for development support or failure analysis of power engineering components
